Sometimes, finding motivation can be quite challenging. When you’re in a crunch and need a way to inspire yourself, you find that people, books, and other things don’t always help. Ultimately, finding the inner source is the key to motivation.
Here are some steps to assist you in finding what motivates you to stir up your passion.
Take the first step
Sometimes you have to move in the direction you intend to move to find motivation. There are times when motivation won’t just fall into your lap. You have to take action.

By taking the first step, you allow yourself to become inspired. Through that inspiration, you’re able to find the motivation you need to continue forward. It’s like a repetitive cycle of energy.
The more you move, the more motivated you become. The more motivated you become, the more you move.
Work your way up
Often, failure is the prevalent energy force in our life. Failure is not in our lives to hold us back. If used correctly, failure can be a launching board for our successes. The way to achieve success out of failure is to start small and work your way up. This entails setting smaller goals and achieving them.
Once you achieve the smaller goals, you begin to develop and improve upon your self-confidence. Once you build your confidence, you’re able to become more inspired and motivated to set and pursue larger goals. By working your way up from the smaller goals, you increase your confidence and generate more motivation within yourself.
Don’t allow yourself to get overwhelmed
There is no quicker way to suck the energy of motivation out of your life then to become overwhelmed. The everyday hustle and bustle alone is enough to overwhelm the most secure and methodical person. When you couple that with unrealistic expectations and goals, this can lead to procrastination.
Energy is a cycle. The more overwhelmed you become, the more you procrastinate. The more you delay, the more overwhelmed you become. This is energy feeding upon itself.

The key to breaking the cycle of being overwhelmed is to start small. Sometimes tasks can become daunting and overwhelming. By taking each task and breaking them down into subtasks, you’re able to eliminate the feeling of becoming overwhelmed. Additionally, you’d be able to eliminate procrastination totally by tackling smaller tasks one by one.
Eliminate distractions
When distractions surround you, it is hard to stay focused. This could lead to a lack of motivation. Limit your distractions by turning off the TV and putting your phone on silent mode. This way, you could focus on the tasks at hand.
Staying positive
Positivity is energy. Likewise, so is negativity. Always look to find the good and positive in every situation. No matter how negative things may seem, always look for the good in the situation.

Taking a negative situation and using it as an opportunity is a great way to find motivation. Apart from turning an adverse circumstance into a positive one, you’re also able to find an opportunity. When there’s an opportunity, there’s motivation.
Give yourself enough room to make mistakes
When you encounter what appears to be failure, don’t be so hard on yourself. If you set a goal that you were not able to reach, it’s okay. Instead of beating yourself up, reassess your goals.
Allow yourself to be human. It’s normal to make mistakes. For when you do, you learn valuable lessons and discover a way of not doing something. Additionally, you become motivated to find the best way to do a particular thing. Find ways to encourage yourself and constantly remind yourself that everything is going to be okay. You can do this. You got this.
Getting and staying motivated can feel like something that is just beyond your reach. By reassessing your goals and staying positive, you can find the motivation you need to carry out your day-to-day tasks.
