When you have something in common with someone else, you often see that the friendship is much stronger than when you have nothing in common with someone. Shared experiences, same interests in books, movies or TV shows or similar hobbies and sporting goals are just some of the reasons for a close friendship. Sometimes, however, friendships are formed by a shared illness or condition.
If you are different from others, it can cause isolation and loneliness, but once you have found a friend, the friendship is often many times stronger. Madden from Oklahoma also had to deal with this. He was born with a rare condition in which his eyes differ in color. It occurs in less than 1% of the world’s population. He used to be bullied a lot, making him deeply unhappy.
However, one day, his mother saw a picture on the internet. When she saw the cat in the picture, she knew for sure that this was going to be a close friendship. Although it was hard to believe, the cat had exactly the same condition as Madden. With the help of friends and family, they managed to travel from Oklahoma to Minnesota. Because of this, the cat, Moon, became acquainted with his new best friend.
Although Moon had been rescued from the streets, Moon in turn rescued Madden from his loneliness. Because he now has a pet with the same rare condition, he felt less threatened and more at home in Oklahoma. Moon made Madden see his condition as a blessing, instead of a deformity. It made him feel unique.
The friendship between Madden and Moon is a so-called ‘match made in heaven’. The two can’t live without each other anymore and may have saved each other’s lives!
